England is Strange and Complicated

First, the strange.
In the flat we have maids. Yes, I know, in most buildings someone comes around and cleans the public spaces. Sure, at UMD we had cleaning ladies in the dorms. But in my flat I have a maid. Her name is Cassie and she is very sweet. Our kitchen gets cleaned three times a week. That's normal. But once a week a woman comes in and cleans my bathroom. For me. My bathroom. And once every other week she cleans my room. Seriously. Like, she vacuums, fluffs pillows, takes out my trash, arranges my shampoo and soaps around my tub... When she came Wednesday, I had left some medicine out in my bathroom, she packed it all up and put it away in my medicine cabinet, she even folded the toilet paper with a little triangle on the end like in hotels. I don't know how I feel about it. I mean, I like it, it's great to not have to vacuum or scrub my tub. But wow, it makes me feel kinda awkward.

Now, the complicated.
Phones!! So I got a pay as you go phone. I got a tariff to call the States cheaply. Well, no one told me I had to activate it (actually, quite the opposite, they said I was good to go) so I called my mom and I think ran through all the money I had put on it. I tried to text and tried to go online to activate the tariff so it would know where I wanted to make the cheap international calls, but to do so they need a postal code. Postal codes in the UK are 6 letters and numbers. Postal codes in the US are 5 numbers. See the problem? So I can't activate it.
Either way, that doesn't solve the problem of making calls now. I tried to go online and add more money (I need to make calls. I am trying to pay my tuition and all I can do is send e-mails to people to try and track down my bill, which was never delivered to me. I have group projects and can't call my group. I'm supposed to go out tonight--party starts in 14 minutes--and I can't call anyone with whom I'm supposed to be meeting) but in order to pay by card I need to give a billing address. Postal codes in the UK are 6 letters and numbers. Postal codes in the US are 5 numbers. See the problem? So I can't add any money, so I can't make any calls.

So, strange and complicated. Ick.
