ALL the boring

Yes folks, its sad to admit, but admit it we must. I'm really boring. I have all the time in the world to write on this blog, but I am no longer a very interesting person. I want to have things to tell you, I do. But I don't really do things. Every day I wake up and spend about an hour answering emails and doing scheduling things. Then an hour or two going through ballroom exec stuff, writing things for the website or sending messages about orchestrating various things. Then I do applications, either look for new ones to add to my massive job spreadsheet, or send out new applications (theatre admin, education, and lately seeing about getting into more marketing/publicity stuff). That I do until I burn out, usually early evening. Then its off for a jog or a little workout, make some dinner, and watch a movie or read until I go to bed. Yeah. Boring.

The things that are new:
I start work for a theatre company this week, I'm Director of the Junior Company of a theatre based in Leamington, one of the towns near my campus. One night a week I teach kids about acting, play theatre games, work on scripts, and generally be theatre-tastic. If I'm still here in the spring I'll be casting and directing their musical. Yay kids! I get paid, like, nothing.

I'm also starting work with another theatre company. I'm calling myself Publicity and Administrative Support. They are a neat company, and poised to expand in the near future, plus they seem like cool people to hang out with. There are a lot of projects there I hope to jump on, one is a partnership they are going to be starting to help train (yes, I said that right, they are going to be doing the training) the RSC's education department with their outreach projects, another is doing some work on their production archiving system. What I'm going to start out doing now is their publicity writing. Their website needs to be proofread and spruced up so it has a bit more impact, and their social networking system is virtually non-existent. I get paid actually nothing.

Additionally I am rewriting a lot of the text for the Latin & Ballroom team website and adding some of my own new sections, rewriting the publicity material to get ready for recruiting in October, and leading a team of exec to help us pick new coaches. And for a day in two weeks I'm helping a friend who works for a small film company with some acting for a little promo video.

I'm the queen of low- to no- paying jobs. Well, they are things I enjoy and people I like, and hopefully they will lead to other opportunities. Ones that allow me to buy groceries.

Also to note, I've cut my hair short again (somehow its curly now... magic) and I'm taking a break from black nail polish. Don't worry though, I've only switched to purple :)

Shout out to working really hard to try to get what you want.
